Job Description Job Description BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social well-being. We are an employer of choice for anyone interested in a meaningful career in the social services field.RESPONSIBILITIESProvide direct services to clients, including intake, engagement, assessment, referral, service plan development, advocacy, counseling, exit summaries and follow-up.Monitor and document client progress toward service plan goals.Conduct home visits and other field work as required.Document all interactions with, or on behalf of clients.Provide general clerical support, including filing, faxing, word processing, typing, photocopying, sorting mail and answer telephones.Report to, and meet with supervisor on a monthly basis.Complete program reports on a monthly basis or more frequently as required.Assist with special projects as assigned.Stay up to date with HUD rules and regulations with City housing standards codes. Facilitate and mediate communication between clients and landlords/brokers.Negotiate apartments/rooms with landlords/brokers on behalf of clients.Develop and maintain broker list.Search/secure safe, affordable apartments/rooms and supportive housing options for clients.Maintain clean driver's license in-order to escort clients in company vehicle.Complete apartment inspections.Assist clients with obtaining required documents for CFEPS application.Travel throughout 5 boroughs for fieldwork assignments. Late or weekends hours maybe required.Perform other duties as assigned by manager.QUALIFICATIONSAssociates Degree or some college coursework completed.A minimum of two years related experience.A valid driver's license from the state of residence with less than three (3) violation points in the last three (3) years.Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferred.Engaging personality and detailed orientated skills are essential.Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to use a computer for prolonged periods.Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.'TB Test required with the first 120 days of employment' BronxWorks seeks to build an inclusive organization grounded in respect for differences.
