In this role, the successful candidate Supervises the departmental Laundry and Linen Program to maintain the highest possible quality and service standards, good public relations with all customers concerned, and coordinate with contracted vendor to request deliveries and service functions. Supervises linen department and contracted vendor by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.Job Responsibilities:Daily responsibilities are specific to managing the flow of linen staff and department functionality. This includes ensuring all deliveries are made with appropriate PAR levels, all soiled linen has been removed, packed into bins and weighed, all uniform orders are placed, reject program in place, and end user follow up. ControlPerform at least 5 unit rounding surveys via Qualtrics to assess quality, and regulatory compliance. Daily report sent to department at the end of shift.Soil variance is kept above contractually established levels through proper unit education and measures such as EMT linen packs kept in place to reduce linen loss. Employee timecards updated and reviewed every day and employee schedule in place via MyTime/Kronos. Records up-to-date for employee sick, holiday and vacation time.Keep absenteeism and sick time to a minimum.Rounding of units consists of unit education on reduction of linen miss-use (perfect bed, linen on window sills, linen stored in unauthorized locations or carts without a splash-proof bottom).TrainingAll new employees thoroughly oriented to their new position.A record kept of training for each individual employee.Schedule followed for retraining all persons at least every six months.New supervisors trained by the Laundry Manager and supervisor personally.Soiled Linen HandlingAll soiled linen chutes and soiled linen rooms are kept clean and orderly.Professional handling of soiled linen between chutes and laundry is maintained.Soiled linen staff is always wearing appropriate PPE, soiled linen room is free of personal items, food, and beverages.Staff not assigned to the soiled linen rooms, and chute rooms are not entering these spaces. Adequate supply of cloth soiled linen bags maintained throughout all facilities. Adequate supplies of reject linen bags are maintained throughout all facilities, as well as reject linen hampers. Hampers should be properly labeled and maintained on all units.Linen DistributionLinen storage room clean and orderly and free of all personal affects (sneakers, food, beverages etc ).Carts ready for scheduled delivery and loaded neatly, and covered with a custom plastic bin liner.Distribution carts are not over-packed.Distribution carts and covers clean and free of rips and tears.Linen carts or supply closets on floors clean and orderly.All linen carts and closets have a splash proof bottom.Linen carts/bins/equipment is never left in corridors unaccompanied. UniformsUniform orders are placed the day they are received, and all IOI's submitted to departmental secretary for processing.Uniforms that have not been distributed for a period greater than 6 months are removed from the system/uniform shop carousel via quarterly carousel audits.Uniforms that do not meet quality standards (stains, holes) are removed for reprocessing and end users notified.Uniform shop kept in a neat, professional, and orderly manner.Uniform shop staff maintains the highest standards in customer service when interacting with customers.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree, 1 to 2 years of Linen & Laundry experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn provides its staff with far more than just a place to work. The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 - $67,500.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
