In order to achieve a reliable and efficient flow of our goods across borders, our dedicated team of Customs Compliance experts ensures that our international shipments meet all legal requirements. Our team is searching for a Customs/Foreign Trade Management/Senior Specialist at our Florham Park, NJ location, responsible for directing and coordinating classification of all imported and exported goods with appropriate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) numbers and trade controls data in SAP according to the requirements of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), U.S. State Department, and U.S. Other Government Agencies responsible for international trade. As a Customs/Foreign Trade Management/Senior Specialist you create chemistry by Reviewing and validating data entered on daily queues in SAP for all areas that pertain to Customs and Foreign Trade Operations for global businesses to include North America, Mexico, and Canada. Coordinating HTS classification for duty suspension to ensure BASF receives the special tariff rate in effect as well as communicating BASF's impact due to political shifts that will impose additional tariffs for BASF imports. Collaborating, coordinating, and recommending new best practice procedures with Management, and Customs Compliance staff to ensure that HTS numbers and trade control data are assigned to all items that appear in SAP daily are assigned proper HTS classification numbers and trade control classifications. Conducting research both internally and externally to ensure that correct HTS numbers and trade control data are assigned to all BASF products and provide the rationale and support for the HTS number before CBP and other U.S. Government Agencies. Working with BASF business units to obtain required data to establish accurate classifications and review all HTS numbers that have been assigned to BASF products to ensure accuracy and make corrections as required to ensure compliance with government requirements. Maintaining the database and run reports as needed on HTS and other regulatory data assigned to BASF products. If you... Have a bachelor's degree in chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Regulatory Affairs, or a closely related field and 5 years of experience in tariff classification of chemicals. Experience must also include Tariff code classification; Rules of Interpretation and Explanatory Notes; Chemical industry and chemical classifications; Application of chemistry to the establishment and assignment of HTS numbers; Analyzing chemicals for the establishment of HTS numbers; Assigning HTS numbers & Advising businesses on tariff change implications; and Working with Customs and other government agencies that impact import and export operations.
