Position InformationThe Academic Content Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective development of the academic elements of online courses in programs offered by Sotheby''s Institute of Art. These programs include but are not limited to the Hybrid MA and Online MA program(s).Reporting to the Director of MA Programs, the Academic Content Manager will work closely with the shared service Digital Learning team and SIA faculty to ensure courses meet the same high standards as our nationally accredited in-person MA programs and our IACET accredited Online Premier courses. The role also includes day-to-day program management responsibilities. Requiring energy and enthusiasm, the position is ideal for candidates with a deep knowledge of art business education, and art history, who are detail-oriented, and who are excited by the prospect of creating a culture of academic excellence.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSpecific duties and responsibilities include the following. The individual will also be expected to perform all the necessary duties customarily performed by a person holding this position. Other duties may be assigned.Provide quality control for all online MA programs and course curriculum: this includes reviewing & approving all course syllabi, scripts, videos & related course assets for all SIA-GO programs before launch.Work closely with faculty to identify and revise content and images for courses.Coordinate with the Director of MA Programs and the VP, Digital Learning to manage and execute appointments of instructional staff and make arrangements for guest lecturers and site visits, both virtual and in-person, depending on the needs of the program.Collaborate with the Director, MA Programs on an academic strategy for the Online MA courses and programs that draws upon the unique opportunities afforded by Sotheby''s Institute of Art and that incorporate the talent, resources, and opportunities presented by the international art world. This includes participating as a key player in post-course program evaluations to identify areas for revision, and generally working on a process of continual improvement for a selection of SIA Online programs, as part of envisioning an overall strategy aligned with SIA''s mission. Review all SIA-GO faculty performance annually & provide mentorship and guidance to faculty as needed. This includes coordinating with the VP of Digital Learning on all online faculty training, published policies in student and faculty handbooks, etc.Support students as needed to problem-solve academic difficulties and differences in collaboration with the Student Services team.Work closely with faculty and the registrar to ensure the timely issue of grades, and written evaluations of students, as appropriate.Collaborate with overseas partners, as needed, to create customized online academic offerings.Collaborate with BrandEd departments including Digital Learning, Global Enrollment & Marketing, IT, Finance, and the Registrar to deliver effective courses and programs.Knowledge and Abilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The position requires a broad familiarity with higher education and MA program. Strong preference for candidates who have five or more years of experience working in art history, art business, art education, or writing departments in colleges or universities, graduate schools, or museums. This position requires strong leadership skills, so experience in leadership or supervisory roles is required. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. This position requires you to be in person in New York during the summer months if there is in-person student programming.Education, Work Experience, and/or LicensureThe Academic Content Manager must have a graduate degree in art history, art business, or a related field, as well as prior experience with formal or informal higher education or continuing education.The Academic Content Manager must have legal authorization to work in the United States. Language SkillsWhile no special language skills are required for the position, given the nature of the broader organization and the spirit of the educational offerings, applicants must be capable of upholding the highest standards of written and spoken English.
